Ijazat was a very good movie albeit very offbeat .. and of course only Gulzar can think of making a movie like this.

Gulzar + Kishore + Lata/Asha + Pancham .. According to me, this combination has produced some of the best music of Hindi music industry.

i remember some songs like Katra Katra and chhoti si kahani hai, but not this one. let me check.

Unfortunately, almost all talented guys (like Gulzar, om puri) are sickular/left wing

Coming to Pancham da, his last movie 1942- a love story had melodious songs. Vidhu Vinod Chopra was at that time scoffing at other music like 'Oye Oye', 'Ole Ole', etc.

Had Rafi not added the much desired sensuality so nicely, this song would perhaps be an average one. But....

This song is of-course one of the best Hindi songs ever.

Unique thing about it is that the three stanzas are on three different tunes. Not many Hindi songs are like this.
